Only 100 SMS Per Day From September 27

TRAI decides to limit the number of daily SMS to curb spam.

                                      

Come September 27, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to limit the number of SMS sent per day from a mobile phone to 100. While the measure has been taken to curb spammers who bombard users with unwanted SMS about topics ranging from hair loss to real-estate deals, it is the innocent SMS junkies who will suffer the most.

The move will not affect those who prefer making calls over sending SMS, but it will certainly mean a higher mobile bill for those who depend more on SMS. TRAI has argued that there are not many mobile subscribers who send more than 100 SMS per day, and hence this measure is not counter-productive. It is a well-known fact that TRAI has not been very successful with the DND (Do Not Disturb) facility to keep pesky telemarketing calls at bay, and with several websites offering free SMS facilities, we won't be surprised if this move also fails in a similar manner.

A Camera With the Processing Power of a Computer

 

Dual-core processors have been a computing mainstay for more than six years, allowing machines to handle two tasks at once without sacrificing speed in either. This year, dual-core chips have begun popping up in app-hungry phones. The next step: cameras. The Olympus PEN E-P3 is the first digital camera running on a dual-core chip, which lets it capture, retouch, and save shots nearly twice as fast as most competitors.

A camera with a single-core image processor must expose the image and then record it and display it, a process that leaves a several-second lag between taking a picture and seeing it—plenty of time to miss the next shot. The dual-core E-P3 (the followup to last year's PEN E-P2) can record and display images simultaneously, all but eliminating the lag. That same speed applies when adding art filters, such as fisheye and gradient effects, or pumping up the color. In fact, the E-P3 can churn out four different versions of one shot in only a couple of seconds.

Black Hole Mystery Solved

Black holes are an object of research and mystery for the whole scientific community from decades. Many researchers are working day and night to explore the mysteries of black holes. In this series, a recent invention by Yale University Astrophysicist revels the fact that, There is a upper limit of the mass of any black hole. This research has been also published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

WHAT ARE BLACK HOLES?

As most of you are aware BLACK HOLE is a region of space in which the gravitational field is so powerful that nothing, not even electromagnetic radiation can escape from it. Dur to this black holes can not be seen (as they absorbs light radiations) but can only be experienced by their ultra strong gravitational pull. That's why they are named as BLACK HOLE.. They continue to grow in size by absorbing any matter that comes in range of their gravitational field.

HOW MUCH THEY CAN GROW?

Till now it was not sure that what can be maximum size of a black hole. These black holes are now known to exist throughout the Universe and the largest and most massive are at the centers of the largest galaxies. These "ultra-massive" black holes have reported to have mass about One Billion Times that of our own Sun.




CONCEPT OF UPPER MASS LIMIT

According to the new research by Priyamvada Natarajan, an Associate Professor of Astronomy and Physics at Yale University and a fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, it has been proved, that even the biggest of these Black Holes can't keep growing forever. Instead, they appear to curb their own growth - once they accumulate about 10 billion times the mass of the Sun.




THEORY BEHIND THIS RESEARCH

Normally Black Holes continue to accumulate mass by absorbing matter from neighboring gas, dust and stars. But according to new research by Priyamvada Natarajan, that it is possible only to a certain limit, irrespective of the position of black hole. The reason behind this is that, "Eventually these Black Holes reach the point when they radiate so much energy as they consume their surroundings that they end up interfering with the very gas supply that feeds them, which may interrupt nearby star formation."

EXPERIMENT BY PRIYAMVADA NATARAJAN

Natarajan used existing Optical and X-ray Data of these Ultra-Massive Black Holes to show that, in order for those various observations to be consistent, the black holes must essentially stop at some point in their evolution. This helped her to prove this fact that these black holes can not grow indefinitely in mass and there is some upper mass limit of black holes.

Data Rates For 4G:

The downloading speed for mobile Internet connections is from 9.6 kbit/s for 2G cellular at present. However, in actual use the data rates are usually slower, especially in crowded areas, or when there is congestion in network.

4G mobile data transmission rates are planned to be up to 20 megabits per second which means that it will be about 10-20 times faster than standard ASDL services.

In terms of connection seeds, 4G will be about 200 times faster than present 2G mobile data rates, and about 10 times faster than 3G broadband mobile. 3G data rates are currently 2Mbit/sec, which is very fast compared to 2G's 9.6Kbit/sec.

Forget Windows: Midori is coming

WINDOWS is a name that has ruled the whole computer world since its first launch in November 1985. Since then it is like a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.

 

                                      

With many advanced versions of Windows available today such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, it is the most used operating system in the world. In 2010, Microsoft is going to launch WINDOWS 2007, but now here is time to experience a yet another technology of operating systems.

Yes, MICROSOFT is working on a new generation of operating systems called Cloud-Based Operating System and rumors are there that MIDORI will be their first such operating system, which will replace Windows fully from computer map.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE

MIDORI is an offshoot of Microsoft Research's Singularity operating system. In this the tools and libraries are completely managed code. MIDORI is designed to run directly on native hardware (x86, x64 and ARM), will be hosted on the Windows Hyper-V hypervisor, or even be hosted by a Windows process.

MIDORI can be also seen as MICROSOFT'S answer those competitors who are applying "Virtualization" as a mean to solving issues within contemporary computing.

The main idea behind MIDORI is to develop a lightweight portable OS which can be mated easily to lots of various applications.

 

 

IMPORTANCE OF MIDORI

For knowing the importance of MIDORI you have to think about, how an operating system is loaded on a computer. Actually operating system is loaded onto a hard disk physically located on that machine. In this way, the operating system is tied very tightly to that hardware. As Windows is dependent on hardware, it might face opposition from contemporary ways of working because people are extremely mobile in using different devices in order get diverse information.

Vulture - Unmanned Aircraft

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of United States is working to develop an unmanned aircraft that is able to stay in air for a period of 5 years at a time. It is one of the most recent inventions of world.

Officials of DARPA has revealed that this aircraft will be known as VULTURE due to its Persistent Pseudo-Satellite Capability . It means that this aircraft will be able to fly over a single area, communicating or performing analysis for years at a time.

Major Obstacles in Project:

Even this project looks appealing to many of you, but there are some serious problems or you can say obstacles in achieving this project.

1) First challenge in front of designers is to figure out some Way to Supply Power to this aircraft during long missions.

2) Another problem is that this aircraft will carry a 1000 pound (450 kg) payload in winds at an altitude of 60,000 to 90,000 feet.

3) Designers have also to sort out the problems regarding Deterioration of Materials during their long-time exposure to stratospheric flight.
In addition to this there may be many challenges during designing of this aircraft.

Daniel Newman: The Man Behind VULTURE

Daniel Newman is the Project Manger of this ambitious project of NASA. In his words: "We want to completely change the paradigm of how we think of aircraft. Aviation has a perfect record - we've never left one up there. We will attempt to break that record". It looks that its time to get out of the traditional "launch - recover - maintain - launch cycle of aircrafts."

Concept Behind Vulture:

Basically Aircrafts operates just like satellites, but the major difference is that these are not regulated by orbital mechanics. You can understand Vulture as a Pseudo-Satellite, which operates in the stratosphere and not in the low Earth orbit. This would provide a 65 dB upgrading in communications capability and will increase onboard sensor resolution.


When Will it Become a Reality?
Well, right now NASA has not mentioned any time table when the aircraft will be ready. But for now NASA has worked on the probable design of Vulture.

When you need four digits and a comma to specify the amount of horsepower your car puts down, you know you're talking about something very, very special indeed. Such is the case for the Concept One, the first car from virtual unknown manufacturer Rimac Automobili, styled by designer Adriano Mudri. The firm has created this machine and given it four electric motors. They combine for an astounding 1,088 Horsepower but, perhaps even more importantly, enable torque vectoring across all four wheels -- varying the power at each corner to pull the car around turns.

That performance equates to a 0 - 62MPH time of 2.8 seconds, while the maximum range is rated as 600km (about 375 miles) thanks to a 92kWh lithium ion phosphate (LiFePO4) battery. It is, alas, just a concept for now, but with a little bit of funding the folks at Rimac hope to bring it to market. And we hope they do too.

Alright, so in-flight entertainment systems aren't exactly the sort of thing that people camp out for days to get first crack at. But, for those who spend a lot of time defying the laws of gravity, an upgraded seat-back system could be the difference between a pleasant trip and urinating on the cabin floor in disgust. In late 2012 Virgin America will start rolling out a new system, developed with help from Lufthansa, called BoardConnect. We don't have all the details about the next generation of Red at the moment, but we can tell you it will include an HD monitor in every headrest, improved WiFi connectivity, and the ability to interact with your personal electronics (though, how and to what end is still somewhat unclear). Each seat will have a QWERTY-equipped remote for navigation and playing games, as well as chatting with other passengers via in-flight IM. In addition to live TV, music, games, flight tracking and on-demand movies, passengers can also order in-flight meals and peruse what we presume will be an electronic version of SkyMall .

Windows 8 may be embracing touch in a big way, but Logitech now also has a little something for those looking to make their Windows 7 PC a bit more multitouch-friendly. The company's just introduced a standalone trackpad of its own, dubbed the Wireless Touchpad, which will let you use a variety of two, three of four-finger gestures to scroll, navigate and switch between applications -- or simply control a cursor, of course. To cut the cord, the device uses a Logitech Unifying USB receiver, which will also accommodate up to five other compatible devices. Look for this one to be available sometime this month for $50.

How to run turbo C++ in Fullscreen mode

When you try to run turbo c++ IDE on latest version of windows like Windows7 or Vista, you may get the error message that 'The system does not support full screen mode. Choose close to terminate the application.'

The problem is that turbo C is very old DOS program. It's better to move on to an up to date compiler like visual c++ Express which is free and you certainly would have a better experience.

Anyway if you are up with turbo c++ and used to it, I have 3 tricks to run it full screen on windows7 and vista. The tricks can be simply classified based on which works on all versions of windows7 and one which only works under Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 7 Ultimate.

Technique 1

Log on to windows7 in safe mode. In safe mode the application running capabilities of an operating system is low and this mode is used as trouble fixing for OS. But this method is much simpler and you only need to log on to safe mode by pressing F8 on start up.

By summarizing the steps:

1. Install turbo C++
2. Start windows7 in safe mode.
3. Execute turbo C++

Technique 2

By Disabling your graphics adapter.  This trick is done by just uninstalling the graphics driver. To do that

1. Right click on My Computer, click Properties
2. Select Device manager->Display Adapters
3. Identify the display adapter of your computer, and uninstall.

You should try this trick only if you do not use your computer for Graphic related operations like playing multimedia games.By this trick graphics would look vulgar but you can run C++ in full screen.

Technique 3

By using DOSBox software. It is an  open source DOS emulator for BeOS, Linux, Mac OS X, OS/2, and Windows. This tool is primarily intended to play DOS games on windows7 but here we can use it run turbo C++ in Full screen mode.

1. Download DOSBox frome here. (for windows)
2. Install and run the DOSBox.
3. Now a command prompt type window will appear. We need to mount TC folder. 

              Just type “mount c: c:/tc” and press enter. 

• Assumed that Turbo C++ is installed in C drive and TC folders located at C:\TC
• You may get a message that 'Drive C is mounted as local directory C:/TC\'                             
• Change the directory to C/BIN/tc.exe. To do that, please follow the steps as shown in the below screen shot.

Now the Turbo C++ will open in DOSBox. Press ALT+ENTER  to toggle between full screen and mini screen.

 

 

By applying the above 3 tricks, you can run C compiler on full screen mode in windows 7.

How to Lock your mouse and keyboard

If you have a computer at home and there are small children in your house, then maybe when you turn on the computer your child is playing with pressing a keyboard button or mouse, and sometimes something unwanted happens, like a sudden there was a error or missing files which leads to improper working of the computer.

How to fix audio and video mismatch while watching movies

Many of us are busy in downloading movies and videos from web in different formats such as avi, mp4, flv, mkv etc.. But these converted formats has a problem. The audio video sync may not be correct in all videos. In many videos, sound track may be lead over video track.But this problem is identified by media player coders, and they attached an option to fix the desynchronization of video. All you have to do is play your media file in VLC media player or Media Player Classic (MPC) and identify shift direction. Then you will be able to adjust the audio shift.

How to Fix Audio Sync Using VLC Media Player

Here's the steps to fix :

1. Play your file in VLC and identify the shift of sound track.
2. Click Tools > Preferences, Select 'Show Settings' from Simple to All.
3. Click Audio on the left, locate audio desychronization compensation field. 
4. Enter the shift value in milliseconds. If you feel one second shift, the input 1000 or -1000 according to shift direction.
5. Click OK and Play the File. 
6. You can use Keyboard shortcuts J and K to adjust audio sync.

 How to Fix Audio Sync Using Media Player Classic (MPC)

You can do the same with media player classic.

1. Open movie file in MPC. 
2. Click View > Options, select Audio Switcher from left.
3. Check Audio time shift (ms) and enter shift value in milliseconds like in VLC.
4. Play the file

Preview files while downloading with IDM

IDM - Internet download Manager software is one of the best download managers that  uses dynamic file segmentation and safe multipart downloading technology to accelerate file downloading. Often if we download large files like movies, we want to check that the file which is downloading is correct. But IDM users have no option to preview movies or songs while downloading except rar preview. But this can be achieved by a simple trick. You only have to follow these steps.

Things to Note: IDM multipart technology uses file splitting before downloading to boost downloading speed. This is why the file preview is not available in IDM. If you send a request to download a file using IDM, it splits file into pieces, then download each part in a sequence. However this tech may slow down download some times in my experience. For full preview of the downloading file, you have to disable this file splitting. 

To do this, goto IDM options by clicking Downloads > Options. Click on Connection tab. Enter Default Max. Connection Number as 1. then click Ok. Then download you file.Your further downloads may look like this:

Steps to Preview Files While Downloading with IDM

1. Open IDM the click Downloads > Options, Save to tab.

 

2. Look for the temporary  path where IDM stores the uncompleted download parts.

3. Go to the location in your computer and find your file name that you were currently downloading. ( This can be done by goto DwnlData in temp folder the arrange files by modified by right click. )

4.  You will have a file and a log file in it. You are almost done. 

5. To preview the file open the file using VLC media player (If you are downloading a movie)

You can play the file as much as the download progresses.

Fix missing dvd drive in windows 7

Sometimes you may experience missing dvd drive in your windows 7 even if it is listed in the BIOS. The solution belongs to some registry tweaks. To bring dvd drive back to windows explorer, do the following:

• Click start button, type REGEDIT in the search box and press enter. This will open up registry editor for windows 7
• Browse for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\SYSTEM\Current Control Set\Control\Class . Onces you reached here, look for Upper Filters and Lower Filters keys and delete them if it's there. 
• Restarting you PC will solve your problem.
• Still there is no dvd drive showing after restarting your computer, then try the following:
• Right click and select Manage
• Select Disk management in the computer management window
• right click on your dvd drive and click change drive letter and path.
• In the new window, click Change. Select a drive letter where it shows assign a drive letter, in the new window. Click OK

     
                      

• Restart your computer.

1.PC Safeguard

I rarely let anyone use my PC because I’m afraid he will mess it up, but it seems Microsoft has been thinking at me and came with a solution. The PC Safeguard doesn ’t let anyone mess your PC
settings, because after the user logs off, the configurations are reset
back to normal. Of course it will not restore the configurations changed by you, but only the ones
done by other users you define.
To use PC Safeguard, go to Control Panel -> User Accounts and create a new account, then select “Set Up Pc Safeguard ” and switch it on. Then you can stay relaxed when others use your computer, because
you won ’t find anything changed, including configurations,downloaded software,installed programs.

2. Screen Calibration Fortunately

Windows 7 comes with a display calibration wizard that lets you set up the screen brightness properly, so
you won ’t have any problems viewing photos or text. The problem was that on one PC a photo
could look sharp and bright and on another it looks awful. Now the problem can be fixed by
pressing the Windows logo key and then typing “DCCW”.

3. AppLocker

If you are usually sharing your computer with someone else, then you might want to restrict their access to your applications, files or documents. Using the Windows 7 AppLocker tool, you have a few options to do this by blocking other users to access Executables, Windows Installers, Scripts, a specific publisher or path. You can simply do this by pressing the Windows key then typing Gpedit.msc. Then go to ComputerConfiguration -> Windows
Settings -> Security Settings -> Application Control
Policies -> AppLocker.
Right click on one of the options (Executables,Installers, or Script) and
create a new rule. That should save you from a lot of headaches.

4. Burn Images

We all had trouble with image burning in Windows, because it couldn ’t do it itself, a standalone software being needed. With Windows 7 this will not be a problem anymore. All you have to do is double-click the ISO image and burn it on the CD or DVD that ’s inserted in the drive.

5. Display Empty

Removable Drives Windows 7 will not showempty drives by default, so if you connect an empty
drive to your PC, don ’t worry, just go to Tools ->Folder Options -> View and uncheck “Hide empty drives in the computer folder ”. This doesn ’t seem like a good idea and it should not be default
setting, because it will be hard for inexperienced users to figure it out. I bet a lot of users will return their newly bought drive thinking it ’s broken.

6. Dock The Current

Windows To The Left Side Of The Screen This new feature seems useful because sometimes it’s disturbing that windows seems to float like crazy on the screen and it’s hard to attach them to one side of it. Now this
can easily be done using a keyboard shortcut. Press the Windows key + Left key (arrow) to dock it to
the left side of the screen. 6.1 Dock The Current Windows To The Right Side Of The Screen Press the Windows key + Right key to dock it to the right side of the screen.

7. Display Or Hide

How to Install Windows 7 from USB Flash Drive

Requirements:
*USB Flash Drive (Minimum 4GB)
*Windows 7 or Vista installation files.
Follow the below steps to create bootable Windows 7/Vista USB drive using which you can install Windows 7/Vista easily.
1. Plug-in your USB flash drive to USB port and move all the contents from USB drive to a safe location on your system.
2. Open Command Prompt with admin rights. Use any of the below methods to open Command Prompt with admin rights.
*Type cmd in Start menu search box and hit Ctrl+ Shift+ Enter.
Or
*Go to Start menu > All programs > Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
3. You need to know about the USB drive a little bit. Type in the following commands in the command prompt:
First type DISKPART and hit enter to see the below message.

Next type LIST DISK command and note down the Disk number (ex: Disk 1) of your USB flash drive. In the below screenshot my Flash Drive Disk no is Disk 3.
4. Next type all the below commands one by one. Here I assume that your disk drive no is “Disk 1”.If you have Disk 2 as your USB flash drive then use Disk 2.Refer the above step to confirm it.
So below are the commands you need to type and execute one by one:
SELECT DISK 1
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT FS=NTFS
(Format process may take few seconds)
ASSIGN
EXIT
Don’t close the command prompt as we need to execute one more command at the next step. Just minimize it.

5. Next insert your Windows7/Vista DVD into the optical drive and check the drive letter of the DVD drive. In this guide I will assume that your DVD drive letter is “H” and USB drive letter is “L” (open my computer to know about it).
6. Maximize the minimized Command Prompt in the 4th step.Type  the following command now:
                        H: CD BOOT and hit enter.Where “H” is your DVD drive letter.
                        CD BOOT and hit enter
7. Type another command given below to update the USB drive with BOOTMGR compatible code.

               BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 L:

                      
Where “L” is your USB drive letter. Once you enter the above command you will see the above message.

8. Copy your Windows 7/Vista DVD contents to the USB flash drive.
9. Your USB drive is ready to boot and install Windows 7/Vista. Only thing you need to change the boot priority at the BIOS to USB from the HDD or CD ROM drive. I won’t explain it as it’s just the matter the changing the boot priority or enabling the USB boot option in the BIOS.
Note: If you are not able to boot after following this guide means you haven’t set the BIOS priority to USB.
